Explanation: The Electorate Balkenkreuz reminds of the former sovereign affiliation to Electorate . The St. Andrew's cross refers to the patron saint of the parish church in Schöndorf. The Meisen stand for the lords of Meisemburg who had basic rights in Schöndorf until the end of the 18th century.

Attractions

The Catholic parish church of St. Andrew is classified as a cultural monument. The free-standing hall building in the classical style was built in 1830/31 by local master builder Johann Baptist Bingler from Trier; Noteworthy is the retracted apse and the multilayered facade with arched panels. The free-standing neo - Romanesque bell tower was added by Ernst Brand from Trier in 1908. The rectory (main street) and the churchyard with priest grave stones and the war memorial are also under monument protection.

The church was built in place of an earlier church that was demolished in 1833 due to dilapidation. The first church in Schöndorf was mentioned in 981 in a document from Archbishop Egbert of Trier .
