SWM is a car brand from the People's Republic of China .

Brand history

Brilliance Shineray Chongqing Automobile was founded in Chongqing in June 2012 . Involved Brilliance China Automotive Holdings and Shineray Group. The name SWM goes back to the former Italian motorcycle manufacturer SWM , which was bought by Shineray in 2014. In 2016 the production of automobiles began. The brand name is SWM .

The company also makes small commercial vehicles called SRMs . There is also a collaboration with the Jinbei brand from Renault Brilliance Jinbei Automotive . The latter company, like BMW Brilliance Automotive, is a joint venture between Brilliance and a partner.

In September 2016, the first model appeared with the SUV SWM X7 .

The SWM X3 followed in June 2017 .

In July 2018, the SWM G01 added to the range.

The SWM G05 , which has been manufactured since September 2019, is referred to as the facelifted version of the X7, which is still available.

Registration numbers in China

In 2016, 25,688 new cars of this brand were registered in China. In the following year, a previous high of 64,252 vehicles was achieved. In 2018 the number fell to 57,388 and in 2019 to 53,286.
