The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 91st time in 1975/76 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association, began on December 13, 1975 and ended with the final on May 1, 1976 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic FC started the competition, which prevailed against Airdrieonians FC in the previous year's final . In this year's Scottish Cup final, the Glasgow Rangers and Heart of Midlothian faced each other. The two teams played against each other for the second time after 1903 in an FA Cup final. The Rangers won their 21st title with a 3-1 win . In the 1975/76 season, the Rangers won the triple consisting of championship , trophy and league cup . Because of the victory in the championship which took Rangers to the European Champions Cup and the Hearts as losers of the Cup final at the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in part.
