VW Tiguan
The VW Tiguan is a sport utility vehicle from the German car manufacturer Volkswagen . The vehicle has been built since 2007. The current second generation went on sale in January 2016. The long version Allspace has been added to the model range since September 2017 .
The made- up word “Tiguan”, made up of the terms tiger and iguana , arose from a survey in Auto Bild magazine, where readers could vote on the name of the vehicle.

The VW Tiguan I was presented at the IAA in September 2007. At the time, it was the company's only SUV alongside the VW Touareg . The SUV has impressed with high numbers of registrations since construction began. In 2011 the first generation was revised.
In 2015 the VW Tiguan II was presented to the public. The design differs from the previous model in particular because of its angular cut. At the beginning of July 2020, a revised version of the second generation was presented. The new design - e.g. To recognize as at the centrally positioned model designation at the rear - is similar in the control and design elements in the interior design of cars such as the VW Golf 8 or the VW ID.3 .

Registration numbers
Since the market launch up to and including December 2019, a total of 700,439 VW Tiguan have been newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. Since the Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) classifies the Tiguan as an off-road vehicle, the Tiguan has been the best-selling vehicle in this segment since the first full sales year in Germany in 2008. In 2017, the Tiguan was the third most frequently newly registered vehicle in Germany after VW Golf and VW Passat . In 2018, the vehicle passed the Passat with 74,749 units and held this position in 2019.
