The BMW G06 is an SUV and coupé crossover from the car manufacturer BMW that has been available since 2019 . F96 is the internal name for the X6 M.
Model history
BMW published the first pictures of the G06 on July 3, 2019. The vehicle had its public premiere in September 2019 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main . The first models of the X6, again produced at the BMW plant in Spartanburg , have been delivered since November 2019 .
Also at the IAA 2019, the G06 was presented as a single piece with a Vantablack VBx2 paintwork. The paint used absorbs up to 99.965% of the light and is the "blackest black in the world".
At the LA Auto Show in November 2019, BMW will present the X6 as an M version with the drive from the BMW M5 F90 . The market launch of the X6 M F96 should be in April 2020.
technology
The third generation of the X6 is based on the X5 (G05) . The interior in particular is almost identical to that of the X5.
Compared to the previous model F16 , the dimensions have changed only slightly. The G06 looks a bit more angular. For the first time in a BMW model, the BMW kidney grille can be illuminated.
drive
The vehicle is only available with an eight- speed automatic transmission .
Petrol engines
The engine range in China begins with a 2.0 l R4 petrol engine with a maximum output of 195 kW (xDrive30i). In Europe, the smallest gasoline engine is a straight six-cylinder engine with a maximum of 250 kW, the power of which is transmitted to all wheels with all-wheel drive (xDrive40i); in the USA the same engine variant is also available with rear-wheel drive (sDrive40i). The least powerful V8 petrol engine is the M50i with 390 kW. The X6 M and X6 M Competition are also offered with a V8 engine; their maximum output is 441 kW or 460 kW.
Diesel engines
A 3.0-liter R6 diesel engine with two output levels has been available since the start of sales. The xDrive30d is charged with a turbocharger with adjustable guide vanes and has a maximum output of 195 kW. The “M Performance” model M50d, which has a maximum output of 294 kW, has four turbochargers in stages. Both are equipped with all-wheel drive.
environment
All engines offered in Europe meet the Euro 6d TEMP emissions regulations.
Vehicles in China meet the China VI standard and those in the USA are certified according to Bin 125.
Vantablack show vehicle
In a making-of video with a length of approx. 1:15 min, the manufacturer showed how the show vehicle was made . According to this, the glazing has been darkened so that the interior cannot be seen. The base vehicle, which apparently originally had a blue color, was then prepared in the usual steps and painted over with VBx2.
