Charles S. Sewall

Charles S. Sewall (born 1779 in Queen Anne's County , Maryland , †  November 3, 1848 in Harford County , Maryland) was an American politician . In 1832 and 1833 and again in 1843 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Sewall attended public schools in his home country. He served in the Maryland Militia during the British-American War of 1812 . He then embarked on a political career. He was a member of both the House of Representatives and the Maryland Senate . In the 1820s he joined the movement around the future President Andrew Jackson . He later became a member of the Democratic Party founded by him .

After the death of Congressman George Edward Mitchell , Sewall was elected as his successor to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC , at the due by-election in the sixth constituency of his state , where he took up his new mandate on October 1, 1832 and until March 3 The current legislative period ended in 1833. In 1843 he was elected to Congress for the late Congressman James Wray Williams in the third district of Maryland. This time he ended the current legislative period between January 2nd and March 3rd of this year.

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Charles Sewall moved to Harford County. There he died on November 3, 1848 on the Rose Hill estate .
