Isaac Ambrose Barber
Isaac Ambrose Barber (born January 26, 1852 in Salem , Salem County , New Jersey , † March 1, 1909 in Easton , Maryland ) was an American politician . Between 1897 and 1899 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Isaac Barber attended public schools in his home country. After a subsequent medical degree at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and his approval as a doctor in 1872, he began to work in this profession in Woodstown . In 1873 he moved his practice and residence to Easton, Maryland, where he practiced as a doctor for the next 15 years. He also got into the milling business and banking. He became president of the Farmers & Merchants' National Bank of Easton . Politically, Barber became a member of the Republican Party . In 1895 he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives .
In the 1896 congressional election , Barber was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded Joshua Weldon Miles on March 4, 1897 . Until March 3, 1899 he was able to complete a legislative term in Congress . This was shaped by the events of the Spanish-American War . After his time in the US House of Representatives was over, Barber returned to the milling business. In addition, he worked in agriculture. Politically, he was between 1900 and 1904 party leader of the Republicans in Maryland. Isaac Barber died in Easton on March 1, 1909.
