Solomon Hillen

Solomon Hillen junior (born July 10, 1810 in Baltimore , Maryland , † June 26, 1873 in New York City ) was an American politician .

Hillen was born in 1810 on the Hillen Road family estate near Baltimore. He studied law at Georgetown College and practiced after his admission to the bar in Baltimore. From 1834 to 1838 he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives .

Hillen, who was elected a Democrat in the 26th Congress , represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives from March 4, 1839 to March 3, 1841 . After leaving the Congress , he began to work again in his previous profession and also held the office of Mayor of Baltimore from 1842 to 1845 . Hillen died in New York in 1873 and was buried in Green Mount Cemetery in Baltimore.
