John Glenn Beall Jr.

John Glenn Beall junior (born June 19, 1927 in Cumberland , Maryland , †  March 24, 2006 ibid) was an American politician who represented the state of Maryland in both chambers of Congress .

Beall served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1946, graduating from Yale University in 1950 . He first worked in the insurance industry for Beall, Garner & Geare, Inc . From 1962 he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives . In 1968 he was elected as a Republican to the House of Representatives of the 91st  Congress .

He was a member of Congress until 1970 when he was elected to the US Senate for Republicans. In doing so, he won the seat that his father James Glenn Beall had previously occupied from 1953 to 1965. In the re-election in 1976 he lost the mandate to the Democrat Paul Sarbanes . 1978 Beall ran for governor of Maryland, but lost the election to the Democrat Harry Hughes . Then he resumed his activity in the insurance industry. Beall spent his old age in Frostburg .
