John Brewer Brown

John Brewer Brown (born May 13, 1836 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , †  May 16, 1898 in Centerville , Maryland ) was an American politician . In 1892 and 1893 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Brown attended Centerville Academy and Dickinson College in Carlisle . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1857, he began to work in this profession in Centerville. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1870, Brown served in the Maryland House of Representatives ; between 1888 and 1892 he was a member of the State Senate .

After the resignation of MP Henry Page , Brown was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due by-election for the first seat of Maryland , where he took up his new mandate on November 8, 1892. Since he was no longer running in the regular congressional elections of 1892 , he was only able to end the current legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1893 . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Brown practiced law again. He died in Centerville on May 16, 1898.
