James P. Heath

James P. Heath (born December 21, 1777 in Delaware , † June 12, 1854 in Georgetown, DC ) was an American politician. Between 1833 and 1835 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James P. Heath was born and raised in Delaware in the second year of the War of Independence . He enjoyed a good education. He then served in the regular army between 1799 and 1802, where he held the rank of lieutenant in the engineering corps. As a register he worked at the Court of Chancery in Annapolis ( Maryland ). During the British-American War he was aide-de-camp with General Levin Winder .

Politically, he belonged to the Jacksonian faction. In the congressional elections of 1832 Heath was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded Francis Thomas on March 4, 1833 . However, he suffered in his re-election bid in 1834 , a defeat and withdrew from the after March 3, 1835 Congress of. Heath died on June 12, 1854 in Georgetown, DC and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery .
