Raphael Neale

Raphael Neale (* in Saint Mary's County , Maryland , †  October 19, 1833 in Leonardtown , Maryland) was an American politician . Between 1819 and 1825 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

The date of birth of Raphael Neale is not known. He grew up in Leonardtown, where he received only a limited education. He later embarked on a political career as a member of the Federalist Party founded by Alexander Hamilton . Between 1798 and 1815 he sat several times in the Maryland House of Representatives . In the congressional elections of 1818 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded Philip Stuart on March 4, 1819 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1825 .

In the course of the reorganization of the American party landscape in the early 1820s, Neale joined the movement around the later President John Quincy Adams . As a candidate for this parliamentary group, he was elected to his last legislative term in 1822. After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Raphael Neale no longer appeared politically. He died in Leonardtown on October 19, 1833.
