Jeremiah Cosden

Jeremiah Cosden (* 1768December 5, 1824 in Baltimore , Maryland ) was an American politician . In 1821 and 1822 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Cosden's exact date and place of birth are not known. There are also no references to his youth and school education. He joined the Democratic Republican Party founded by Thomas Jefferson . In the congressional election of 1820 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded Stevenson Archer on March 4, 1821 . His opponent, Philip Reed , appealed against the outcome of the election. When this was granted, Cosden had to cede his mandate to Reed on March 19, 1822. No information has been passed on about his time after leaving the Congress . It is only mentioned that he died in Baltimore on December 5, 1824.
