Jesse Dashiel Price (born August 15, 1863 in Whitehaven , Wicomico County , Maryland , †  May 14, 1939 in Ocean City , Maryland) was an American politician . Between 1914 and 1919 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jesse Price attended the public schools in his home country and then worked in commerce, crafts and banking. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1903 he became a member of Salisbury City Council ; from 1903 to 1907 he served as a treasurer in Wicomico County. He was then a member from 1908 to 1914 and President of the Maryland Senate from 1912 . According to the constitution at the time, he was ex officio vice governor of his state.

After the resignation of MP James Harry Covington , Price was elected as its successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , at the by-election due for the first seat of Maryland , where he took up his new mandate on November 14, 1914. After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1919 . World War I fell during his time in Congress . In 1918 Price was defeated by Republican William Noble Andrews .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Price resumed his previous activities. Between 1923 and 1935 he was a member of his state's tax commission. He died in Ocean City on May 14, 1939 and was buried in Salisbury.
