Charles Boyle Roberts (born April 19, 1842 in Uniontown , Carroll County , Maryland , †  September 10, 1899 in Westminster , Maryland) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1875 and 1879 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Roberts attended Calvert College in New Windsor until 1861 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1864, he began to work in Westminster in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1874 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the second constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded Stevenson Archer on March 4, 1875 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1879 . He was chairman of the Committee on Accounts .

Between 1883 and 1887 Charles Roberts held the office of Attorney General of Maryland. From 1891 he worked as a judge, including from 1892 at the Maryland Court of Appeals . He died in Westminster on September 10, 1899.
