William Hayward

William Hayward, Jr. (* 1787 in Easton , Talbot County , Maryland , †  October 19, 1836 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1823 and 1825 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Hayward attended Easton Academy and then studied at Princeton College until 1808 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1809, he began to work in Easton in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party . He served in the Maryland House of Representatives from 1818 to 1820 .

In the 1822 congressional election , Hayward was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded Robert Wright on March 4, 1823 . Until March 3, 1825, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Hayward practiced as a lawyer again. He died in Easton on October 19, 1836 and was buried in the family cemetery on his Shipshead estate .
