Fetter Schrier Hoblitzell (born October 7, 1838 in Cumberland , Maryland , †  May 2, 1900 in Baltimore , Maryland) was an American politician . Between 1881 and 1885 he represented the state of Maryland in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Fetter Hoblitzell attended the public schools in his home country and the Allegany Academy . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1859, he began to work in this profession in Baltimore. During the Civil War he served as a common soldier in the Confederation Army . After the war he continued his legal practice. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He served in the Maryland House of Representatives in 1870, 1876, and 1878 , and in 1878 was its President.

In the congressional elections of 1880 Hoblitzell was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Maryland , where he succeeded William Kimmel on March 4, 1881 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1885 . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Hoblitzell was a legal advisor to the City of Baltimore in 1888 and 1889. After that he practiced as a lawyer again. He died on May 2, 1900 in Baltimore, where he was also buried.
