Chauvac-Laux-Montaux is part of the Nyons arrondissement and the Nyons et Baronnies canton ( Rémuzat until 2015 ).

Chauvac-Laux-Montaux is located about 80 kilometers southeast of Valence in the Baronnies Provençales Regional Nature Park . The Eygues rises on the eastern edge of the municipality . Chauvac-Laux-Montaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-André-de-Rosans in the north, Sorbiers in the northeast, Villebois-les-Pins in the east, Laborel in the southeast, Montauban-sur-l'Ouvèze in the south and Roussieux in the west.
