Souspierre is a French municipality with 97 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes in the department of Drôme ; it belongs to the canton of Dieulefit in the arrondissement of Nyons .

geography

Souspierre is located between Lyon and Avignon at an average altitude of 270  m , ten kilometers west of Dieulefit and 17 kilometers east of Montélimar in the Jabron valley . The neighboring municipalities are Salettes , La Bégude-de-Mazenc , Le Poët-Laval and Eyzahut .

history

The oldest mention of Sopeyra can be found in a deed of donation from Duke Adémar de Valence from 1219 to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, d. H. the Maltese - Coming from Le Poët-Laval . In 1562 the place was recorded as a soup . The inhabitants are called Souspierrois or Souspierroises .

A small literary annotation received Souspierre in the 2007 published novel Kalahari by Ludwig Harig .
