geography
The place is located at an average altitude of 500 meters above sea level in the south of the Drôme department, eight kilometers northwest of Dieulefit and 25 kilometers east of Montélimar . Three rivers cut the municipality - the Ruisseau de Salettes , the Ruisseau de Rioussec and the Ruisseau de Ribesaille .

history
The oldest documented mention as Castrum de Eyzahuco comes from the year 1237. The place name is actually of Celtic origin (Aysahûgs) , 1340 it was recorded as Aysahuco, 1442 as Esaü. In the Middle Ages, Eyzahut was under the control of the Maltese - Coming from Le Poët-Laval .
The village and its surroundings, which are quite inaccessible between steep rock formations, were both during the Huguenot Wars and during the Second World War a place of refuge for resistance and the Resistance .
