Malataverne is a French municipality with 2012 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Malataverne is part of the Nyons arrondissement and the Grignan canton (until 2015: Montélimar-2 canton ).

Malataverne is about seven kilometers south of Montélimar on the edge of Provence . Malataverne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Châteauneuf-du-Rhône in the north and west, Allan in the east, Roussas in the south-east, Les Granges-Gontardes in the south and Donzère in the south-west.

Autoroute A7 and Route nationale 7 run through the municipality .
