Montjoyer is a French municipality with 286 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Drome region, in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Nyons and the Canton of Grignan .

history

Montjoyer was in the 12th century, a grange of the Cistercian - Abbey Aiguebelle , which now belongs to the community. It is first mentioned as a municipality in the 15th century. In the 13th century, Montjoyer belonged to the Count of Provence , later to the King of France . In 1759 Louis XV exchanged Montjoyer against land that bordered the park of the Palace of Versailles .
