Donzère is a French town with 5833 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Donzère is located six kilometers north of Pierrelatte and twelve kilometers south of Montélimar in the Rhône valley on its orographic left bank. The Canal de Donzère-Mondragon begins in Donzère and ends in Mondragon ; it is 24 kilometers long.

Attractions
The Romanesque church of Saint-Philibert was built in the 12th century. The bell tower was restored in the 17th century. The west facade was renewed in the 19th century. It is classified as a Monument historique (historical monument).
The clock tower was rebuilt in 1848 after the old tower was demolished in 1844 to enlarge the street.
The Chenivesse tower was built in 1510 in the Renaissance style. Since 1947 the tower, along with the city wall and the castle, has been listed as a Site Inscrit (registered landmark). The Renaissance castle was built by Claude de Tournon in the 16th century.
Economy and Infrastructure
Viticulture is practiced in the Donzère region . The wines produced here may be marketed under the designation of origin Grignan-les-adhémar (until 2010: Coteaux du Tricastin).
traffic
Donzère has a train station on the Paris – Marseille line of the SNCF . A bus line runs between the towns of Montélimar-Pierrelatte- Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux and stops in Donzère.
A little above Donzère on the Rhône is the Pont du Robinet , a suspension bridge built in 1847 , which offers a direct route to the other side of the river for cars up to 3.5 t.
education
There are three kindergartens and two primary schools in Donzère.
Sports
There has been a municipal swimming pool in Donzère since the 1950s, open every year from July 1st to August 30th. The Michel Hidalgo football stadium in the south of Donzère has a grandstand with 200 covered seats. It is mainly used for soccer events. A tennis court and a skate park are attached to the stadium . The Jean-Pierre Rives Stadium is located in the middle of the city and is used for rugby events as well as for school sports and training.

- Joseph Joubert (* in Donzère 1640; † in Lyon 1719) was a Jesuit, classical philologist, Romanist and lexicographer
- Félix Clément (* in Donzère 1826; † 1888), was a painter and from 1874 to 1877 director of the École nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon .
- Loÿs Prat (* in Donzère 1879; † in Avignon 1934) was a painter who mainly painted the landscapes of the Rhone Valley.
