Rémuzat extends on the left bank of the river Oule , near its confluence with the Eygues , in the middle of extensive groves of plum trees. The inhabited center used to be on the right bank of the Oule, at the foot of the Caire massif. There are still structural remains and the Romanesque church of St. Michel.

The neighboring municipalities are Saint-May , Cornillac and Pelonne .
history
As an old settlement core of the barony of Mévouillon, the place was initially under the abbey of Bodon and later the abbey of Île Barbe. In 1305 the place was sold by Baron Raymond V and the abbot of Île Barbe to Charles II, Duke of Provence and King of Sicily . Since then it has belonged to the Oule fief and was under the government of Provence, the vicariate of Sisteron and the parliament of Aix-en-Provence until the French Revolution . In July 1790 it was made a commune of the Drôme department by law, and with the reorganization of the year VIII (1797) the capital of the canton.
