Elpersbüttel is a municipality in the Dithmarschen district in Schleswig-Holstein .

geography

location

Elpersbüttel is located in western Dithmarschen , about two kilometers south of Meldorf , and connects to the east of the Meldorfer Bay . In the bay is the former island of Helmsand .

Neighboring communities

To the east lie Wolmersdorf and Windbergen , south Busenwurth and north Meldorf.

The community consists of the districts Elpersbüttel, Elpersbüttelerdonn, Eesch, Lütjenbüttel, Elpersbüttelerdeich, Eescherdeich and Wolfenbüttel.

history

The oldest traces of settlement from the maritime march can be found in Busenwurth . As early as 50 AD, a stable house was built there on a Wurt . A larger sausage from the 12th century was discovered in Lütjenbüttel.

On April 1, 1934, the parish district of Südermeldorf-Marsch was dissolved. All of their villages, village communities and farmers became independent communities / rural communities, including Elpersbüttel.

In 1977 Elpersbüttel gained an area of ​​13 km² by diking the Speichererkoog . In terms of settlement history, Elpersbüttel is one of the Büttel localities.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1974, the previously independent municipality of Eesch was incorporated.

Since the local elections in 2008, the constituency AWV has had all eleven seats of the municipal council.

Sports and clubs

TSV Elpersbüttel-Eesch is the largest club in the community with around 500 members. It has existed since 1965. As far as possible, all ages from young to old are offered sporty leisure activities. Youth work is one of the most important tasks. In some areas, however, there are also cross-cutting activities for children and young people. There are also interesting fields of activity for adults and seniors.

There is also the Elpersbütteldonn ring rider and rifle club and the Elpersbüttel ring rider club.

On the north-western boundary of the municipality is the Meldorfer Hafen, which is separated from the North Sea by a barrage , and the Speicherkoog , a local recreation and nature reserve that was only diked in 1979 . The reservoirs in it can be used for windsurfing . A pavilion provides information about the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park . There are guided biological mudflat walks and a large, monitored swimming area on the North Sea dike. Bike and inline tours are possible, and the North Sea coast bike path also leads through the community.

Elpersbüttel is located on federal road 5 from Brunsbüttel to Heide and is served by the buses that run there. The closest train station is in Meldorf (2 km). The Albersdorf exit of Autobahn 23 is about 20 km northeast, the Heide exit about 12 km north.

In the southwestern Kögen and in the adjacent part of the Meldorfer Bucht there is a test site for weapons and explosive technology examinations by the Bundeswehr .
