Districts

The community of Gehlsbach consists of the districts Darß, Hof-Karbow, Karbow, Quaßlin, Quaßliner Mühle, Vietlübbe and Wahlstorf , as well as the settlement Sandkrug.

history

The municipality of Gehlsbach was created in 2014 from the merger of the municipalities of Karbow-Vietlübbe and Wahlstorf.

Karbow-Vietlübbe was first mentioned in 1274, when Prince I. Nicholas of Werle the monastery Marienfließ in Stepenitz left the villages. The village church of Karbow is said to have been built on the foundations of a previous building from the 13th century in the second half of the 15th century (according to Dehio ) and again in its current form in 1604 after a fire. The neo-Gothic village church in Vietlübbe dates from the 19th century.

Quaßlin was first in 1300 with the Slavic name Quarcellyn mentioned. The state domain Quaßlin was named in 1727 and from 1845 onwards it was given a long lease. The tenant house was from before 1768 and was demolished after 1975. In 1894 the estate was 342 hectares in size. It was relocated after 1945.
