About this picture
Gatehouse of the Seedorf estate

Seedorf ( Low German Seedbod ) is a municipality on the southwestern edge of Holstein Switzerland in the far northeast of the Segeberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The settlement in the municipality of Seedorf goes back to the establishment of an old turning turmes in the 9th century by the turn of Prince Slaomir about at the point where today the Church in Schlamersdorf stands. In the course of time, the area around the tower, which was also used as a preaching site, was settled. The place name Schlamersdorf is derived from the name Slaomirsturm.

The Schlamersdorf parish was formed around 1150 and consisted of free and independent villages. The church, built by the Danish nobleman Sune Ebbesen Hvide at the time, was a round church , similar to the one that still exists today in Bjernede on Zealand . The parish was united in the 15th century to form the three noble estates Seedorf, Hornsdorf and Muggesfelde. The historic core of the community that has been preserved to this day is Gut Seedorf. In addition to the fortified main courtyard Seedorf, the church village Schlamersdorf, the village Berlin, the Meierhof Blomnath and later the Gut Hornstorf belonged to it. The originally fortified area of the former estate with its listed buildings and gardens is still an outstanding historical testimony from this time.

In his topography for the beginning of the 20th century, Oldekop names 31 residential buildings with 124 inhabitants in Schlamersdorf and 35 apartments with 318 inhabitants in Berlin. The population of the entire municipality grew to 1454 people by 1939. After the end of the war it rose to around 2,800 people in the years 1946 to 1949 due to displacement and displacement. It was not until the 1960s that it settled down to a level of 1,700 to 1,800 people and since the second half of the 1980s it has steadily increased to 2,242 People in 2003. Recently the population has been falling again.

Seedorf has existed as a political municipality since 1929. Until then, Seedorf was an estate district . Seedorf was a municipality free of office until 1970, since then the municipality has belonged to the Wensin office , which was dissolved in 2006 and merged with the Segeberg-Land office to form the new Trave-Land office .

Schlamersdorf

With about 700 inhabitants, Schlamersdorf is the largest district in the Seedorf community. The primary school, kindergarten and church are also located here.

The founding of the church village Schlamersdorf goes back to the 12th century. When the Seedorf estate was founded in the 15th century, Schlamersdorf became part of the estate as a church village . Since the end of the 18th century, the Schlamermarkt has been held annually in the village, originally always on the Thursday after Midsummer (June 24th). All workers had that day off and could get their daily necessities. The stalls and stalls were spread out in the streets of the village. In 1836 the beautiful, tree-lined and listed market square was laid out. Since the market day usually fell in the middle of the hay harvest, it was moved to June 14th in 1856. Today the traditional Schlamermarkt takes place on the first weekend in June as a commercial fair with a village flair.

The church and almost the entire village were destroyed in the great fire in Schlamersdorf on May 27, 1870. The fire started in the blacksmith's house, the last house on the western outskirts, and was driven through the village by the west wind. Only the buildings furthest away to the north and south, the old pastorate and a house on Segeberger Strasse, have been preserved. The reconstruction of the village took place in the years 1871–1872. The new church in its current form was consecrated in 1873. The architect was Heinrich Moldenschardt .

Berlin

Volunteer fire brigade in Berlin

With about 600 inhabitants, Berlin is the second larger district in the Seedorf community. The village of Berlin was mentioned in a document as early as 1215 and is therefore considered the oldest Berlin in the world. In the Danish time it was administered from Gut Seedorf. The current district of Berlin has gained a certain fame because of its name. Many street names are based on the names of well-known streets and places in the city of Berlin . The thoroughfare is called "Unter den Linden". Other streets are called “Kurfürstendamm”, “Potsdamer Platz”, “Potsdamer Straße”, “Lichterfelde” or “Heerstraße”. A memorial stone indicates the distance from Berlin (Seedorf) to the capital Berlin with 357 kilometers. Another memorial stone commemorates the Seedorf police officer Wilhelm Krützfeld , who protected the New Synagogue during the pogrom night of November 9, 1938 .

Further districts

Other districts are Seekamp, Blomnath, Kembs, Weitewelt and Hornsmühlen.

Settlement splinters

Reuterteich

Approx. One kilometer south of the Schlamersdorf district is the small hamlet of Reuterteich . It was once very important for the agriculture of the community of Seedorf and was the location of a dairy. Today it consists of the former dairy building, the residential building of a former nursery and the Reuterteich farm.

More settlement splinters

Further settlement splinters are Aukamp, Fresenfelde, Moorkathen, Hornsdorf, Kuhlenbrook, Liethkaten, Bahrenkrug and Heidmoor.

Geography and traffic

After Norderstedt, Seedorf is the largest municipality in the Segeberg district in terms of area.

The municipality extends to the Plöner See . There are a total of 13 districts or settlement splinters (see above). The main settlements are the districts of Berlin and Schlamersdorf.

nature and landscape

With its attractive landscape, the municipality has long been part of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park . The areas of the Kembser and Seedorfer lakes as well as the Stocksee / Tensfelder Au are among the core areas of the nature park. Large parts of the municipality, especially in the area of Heidmoor, Seedorfer See and Tensfelder Au / Stocksee, are under nature or landscape protection. The low-lying areas of the Tensfelder Au and the Trave as well as the area of the connecting canal between Lake Seedorfer See and Tensfelder Au are main axes in the state-wide biotope network. The Heidmoorniederung, a structurally rich fallow lowland landscape, and the forests on the Stocksee and between Schlamersdorf and Garbek in the Hohlegruft area are under special protection as FFH areas .

According to official statistics, there are 617 hectares of forest and 213 hectares of water in the municipality. These are primarily the Seedorfer , the Seekamper and the Kembser See .

Due to the varied landscape structure, which is largely shaped by the lakes and the wooded surroundings, the close interdependence with the Plöner See area and the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park, as well as the Gut Seedorf with its historical building fabric, the community offers good conditions for an interesting local recreation destination .

traffic

The community is connected to the regional road network via the state roads 69 and 161. The L 69 connects the federal highway 432 in the east with the federal highway 404 / federal highway 21 in the west, from which the L 161 branches off in the Seedorf district of Berlin in the direction of Eutin . Since the expansion of the B 404 to the A 21 between Bornhöved and Negernbötel , the connection of the community of Seedorf via the L 69 to the higher-level trunk road network has improved further.

There are also four district roads in the municipality. The K 45 is the most important connection to the south in the direction of Bad Segeberg. The K 93 and K 110 provide inter-regional connections to the north, especially for excursions to Lake Plön. The K 72 leads east towards Glasau and Ahrensbök.

The community is connected to the public transport network by the 7700 bus to Bad Segeberg . Due to the peripheral location of the municipality and the relatively weak range of public transport, the vast majority of the transport needs of the local population must be satisfied by private motor vehicle.

politics

Community representation

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has eight seats since the 2013 local elections and the KFS electoral community has five.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In blue a raised golden three-mountain, inside a red gatehouse, laterally accompanied by four 2: 2 set green leaves, underneath a blue-silver wave shield foot."

Historical reason: The community of Seedorf is located in the eastern hill country in the natural areas "Holstein Switzerland" and "Lake District of the Upper Trave". The landscape is characterized by the alternation of lakes and hills with a diverse structured rural cultural landscape. The blue wavy threads in the Schildfuß and the Dreiberg in the Schildhaupt symbolize this charming landscape and the location of this village on the Seedorfer See. The three wavy threads also point to the three lakes in the municipality. The gold in the shield background refers to the importance of agriculture, in which the cultivation of grain and rapeseed plays a special role. The gatehouse of the Seedorf estate is one of the most striking buildings in this region. It therefore forms the main character in the municipality's coat of arms. The four leaves refer to the historic avenue that leads to the estate and that structures the landscape so that it can be seen from afar, as well as the wealth of forests in this region.

flag

Blazon : "The figures of the municipal coat of arms in tincture suitable for the flag on blue flag cloth."
