Regional anthem

A regional anthem is an anthem , comparable to a national anthem , with which people within a locally limited region express their identity . In the course of decades or centuries, exactly one typical song has usually established itself as an anthem within an area. Anthems of member states are in Germany and Austria as a country anthems , in Switzerland and the canton of hymns called.

Germany

Federal states

In the Federal Republic of Germany no official national anthems are usually used, which is why they are mostly national songs. Exceptions are the states of Bavaria, Hesse and Saarland. There they are protected as state symbols by § 90a StGB .

Switzerland

In some cantons there is a canton anthem , which is usually not legally stipulated, but simply established by tradition. La Nouvelle Rauracienne, the hymn of the canton of Jura, was made the official canton anthem by a resolution of the Jura parliament on June 21, 1990, and the Valais hymn was declared official in 2016.
