history

The first written mention of Hoort comes from the year 1227. Hoort belonged to the Johanniter Commandery Kraak from 1227 to 1550 . New Zachun is first mentioned in 1570, the report deals with a sheep farm run by a certain Ulrich Pen from Toddin. The initially scattered settlement and later development of gaps resulted in the appearance of typical street villages in both districts . The population grew after the Second World War due to the settlement of displaced and homeless people. The old village school, which is now used as a residential building, is well preserved.

Hoort formed with Alt Zachun and Neu Zachun from 1974 to March 2, 1983 the parish Zachun. After their dissolution, Neu Zachun became a district of Hoort again.
