Producers Guild of America Award

The Producers Guild of America Award , 1990 to 2001 Golden Laurel Award , is an American film and television award that is presented annually by the Producers Guild of America (PGA). The best film and television productions of the previous calendar year are honored.

Joel Freeman , then Treasurer of the Producers Guild of America , launched the award together with then PGA President Leonard Stern to honor special achievements by film and television producers .

The ceremony is presented each year by a prominent filmmaker, including Ronald Reagan , Ted Turner , Garry Marshall , Robert Guillaume , Jack Lemmon , James Earl Jones , Michael Douglas , Walter Matthau and Shirley MacLaine since 1990 .

In addition to the Producers of the Year Award for the most outstanding producers of the year, the Stanley Kramer Award, named after Stanley Kramer , has also been presented since 2002 for special achievements in the representation of social issues.

Award winners

The Producers Guild of America Awards are given for achievements in the previous film year, e. B. 1990 for the 1989 film year . In 2018 awards were presented in twelve categories, in addition to those for the best feature, documentary and animated films awarded in the cinema, as well as awards for the best television productions (including series, multi-part series and television films).

Best Feature Film ("Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures")

In 2014 there were two winners. In 2018, due to a tie, for the first time in the history of the PGA Awards with The Big Sick , Call Me by Your Name , Dunkirk , Get Out , I, Tonya , Lady Bird , Molly's Game - Alles auf einer Karte , Shape of Water - Das Whisper des Wass , Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri , Die Verlegerin and Wonder Woman have nominated eleven instead of the usual ten films.

In 2005 two films were awarded, and in 2011 the award honored an individual for the first time.
