Vix is a French commune with 1,788 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Vendée , in the Région Pays de la Loire . Vix belongs to the Arrondissement Fontenay-le-Comte and the canton Fontenay-le-Comte (until 2015: canton Maillezais ). The inhabitants are called Vizerons .
location
Vix is about 30 kilometers west of Niort in the Marais Poitevin . The Sèvre Niortaise limits the municipality to the south. Vix is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Montreuil in the north, Doix lès Fontaines in the northeast, Maillé in the east, Taugon in the southeast, Saint-Jean-de-Liversay in the south, L'Île-d'Elle in the west and southwest, Le Gué-de -Velluire to the west and Velluire to the northwest.
