Bonson is a French municipality with 3889 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert . The inhabitants are called bonsonnais .
geography
Bonson is located in the Forez plain in the Massif Central , about 20 kilometers northwest of Saint-Étienne . The bonson flows through the community . The Malbief borders the community in the west . Bonson is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Cyprien in the north, Andrézieux-Bouthéon in the east and northeast, Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert in the south and southeast, Saint-Marcellin-en-Forez in the southwest and Sury-le-Comtal in the west and Northwest.
The former Route nationale 8 runs through the municipality .
history
The place name probably originated from a copying error in the 12th century. In the deed of donation for the church in Benerone , the place was assigned as Bonczon .
