The ninth season of the German singing casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast from January 7th to April 28th, 2012 on the RTL television program.
New jurors in addition to Dieter Bohlen were Natalie Horler and Bruce Darnell . The age limit of 30 years for candidates in previous seasons has been removed. For the first time, in addition to a record deal, the winner also received a prize of 500,000 euros. The recall with the best 36 candidates took place again in the Maldives .
In the final, Luca Hänni was able to prevail against Daniele Negroni .

Who will make it into the top 10? - The top 16 show
The first live show of the ninth season took place on February 25, 2012. The top 16 candidates sang the song Good Feeling by Flo Rida at the beginning of the show . The ten candidates with the most caller votes went straight through. In contrast to previous years, the last six were eliminated immediately without a jury decision. Due to a voting mishap (the candidate Christian Schöne turned up the numbers), online users were able to vote for a second chance for Schöne on the RTL Internet portal for 24 hours on the following Tuesday, but the majority decided against it.

First motto show
The first motto show took place on March 3, 2012. It had the motto Hammer Hits. The top 10 candidates sang the song Troublemaker by Taio Cruz at the beginning of the show . Since this show you can vote on the Internet via the RTL.de trend check, flop of the week . This week Kristof Hering was elected. At 12:37 a.m. Marco Schreyl announced that Thomas Pegram had left. The four youngest participants Daniele, Fabienne, Luca and Vanessa were no longer allowed to stand on stage from midnight (or 10 p.m. for Fabienne) due to regulations in the Youth Labor Protection Act and saw the decision from the audience. Seventh theme show
The seventh motto show took place on April 14th and had the motto classic, pop and rock . The candidates sang three songs for the first time. At the beginning of the show, the top 4 candidates sang the song Turn This Club Around by RIO feat. U-Jean. The flop of the week of the RTL.de trend check was Fabienne Rothe.
First the pop, then the rock and finally the classical songs were sung. For the first time there was a so-called "immediate decision", that is, the decision came immediately after the show and was not interrupted by a break and another show for an hour. The eighth motto show took place on April 21, 2012. It was the semi-finals and had no specific motto. The last three candidates sang three songs again. The final took place on April 28, 2012. The two finalists sang the title Don't Think About Me, composed by Dieter Bohlen . In addition, the two sang a song of their choice and their personal season highlight. At the beginning of the show, all the top 10 candidates, except for the two finalists, sang the song Good Feeling by Flo Rida again . Luca and Daniele then sang the song There She Goes by Taio Cruz .
