The Divizia A 2005/06 was the 68th season in the history of the Romanian football league . It started on August 5, 2005 and ended on June 7, 2006 . Games were closed from mid-December to early March ( winter break ). Master was again Steaua Bucharest .

The Divizia A played with 16 teams. The last two teams were relegated to Divizia B , while four teams rose as the league was increased to 18 teams. There were three points for a win, one point for a draw and no points for a defeat. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, it was not the goal difference that decided , but the direct comparison.
