Lincoln County is a county in the state of Kansas in the United States . The county seat is Lincoln Center .

The county is east of the geographic center of Kansas and covers an area of 1,865 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Mitchell County , Ottawa County , Saline Counties , Ellsworth County , Russell County, and Osborne Counties .

Lincoln County was formed on February 26, 1867. It was named after Abraham Lincoln , the 16th US President .

According to the 2000 census , Lincoln County had 3,578 people in 1,529 households and 1,039 families in Lincoln County. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.30 percent white, 0.11 percent African American, 0.48 percent Native American, 0.11 percent Asian and 0.25 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.75 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.03 percent of the population.
Of the 1,529 households, 27.1 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.1 percent were married couples living together, 6.4 percent were single mothers, and 32.0 percent were non-families. 29.6 percent of all households were single households and 16.4 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.81 people.
23.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 5.5 percent between 18 and 24 years, 22.9 percent between 25 and 44 years, 24.6 percent between 45 and 64 years and 23.5 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 adult women aged 18 and over there were 92.4 men.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 30,893 , and the median income for a family is $ 36,538. Males had a median income of $ 24,681 versus $ 20,000 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,788.
