List of the cultural assets protected under the Hague Convention in Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Number plate of the Hague Agreement in Austria, April 1964

The list of protected under the Hague Convention Cultural Heritage in Austria leads to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict in Austria protected cultural assets on March 14, 2020 with stand.Template: future / in 2 years

The 21,000 trademarks in the sense of the Hague Convention according to Federal Law Gazette No. 58 of April 1964, which were already attached by the end of 1984 and in many cases can still be found on buildings, have lost their validity and thus their significance with the amendment of the Monument Protection Act of 2000. With this amendment, on January 1, 2000, there was for the first time a domestic legal regulation of the protection of cultural property in the sense of the Hague Convention. The Federal Monuments Office was obliged to record and publish the objects to be protected according to the Hague Convention by December 31, 2009 according to international criteria. This publication is the basis of this list, objects with still existing old markings are therefore irrelevant for this list.

The list includes 135 individual objects, monuments and ensembles. For the ensembles there is usually a short, legally irrelevant description of the protected area; for individual objects and monuments, reference is made to the appropriate articles.

The list is sorted according to federal states and, within the federal states, by places / municipalities.

The characteristic settlement structure of the Schmalangerdorf is largely determined by the so-called Hofgassen. These branch off at right angles from the main street and open up elongated wine-growing houses, whereby the living rooms, which are elevated above the press house and the cellar, can be reached via stairs, which occasionally also have staircases in front of them. The stables and storerooms with servants' chambers follow the residential buildings, and the barns to the “back”.

The Ensemble Helenenstraße documents the historical blooming phase of Baden, which was connected with an upswing as a luxury spa following the connection to the Südbahn, which opened in 1841 . The villas of numerous high-ranking personalities illustrate the stylistic pluralism characteristic of historicism. The Renaissance Weikersdorf Castle is located north of Helenenstrasse in the middle of a spacious park . The baroque hall church of St. Helena conveys the originally village character of the incorporated Rauhenstein district. The Baden thermal bathing beach is also in the protected area.

The city of Baden experienced its heyday in the early 19th century when it was the summer residence of Emperor Franz I and when it was connected to the Southern Railway in 1841. After a fire in 1812, the city was rebuilt in the classical style with the leading participation of Joseph Kornhäusel , and is therefore called the Biedermeier city . The facades of many of the medieval town houses as well as city theaters and casinos are historicistic from the late 19th century .
