This list gives an overview of particularly well-known and noteworthy films in which time travel is shown . It contains both films in which objects or people are physically moved into other times, as well as films in which the consciousness of the characters is moved into the bodies of their younger self or a stranger in another time, as well as films with time loops in which people go through the same period of time over and over again.

Time travel is an often used plot element in science fiction television series. In some productions, time travel is the central element of the series plot. In addition, there are also very many series in which time travel is only used in individual episodes, such as in Twilight Zone , Eureka - The Secret City or the various Star Trek series as well as Babylon 5 .

This list only includes series in which the time travel or time loop is an often recurring or central element of the entire series plot.
