Run is a pop rock song written by Lamont Dozier and made famous by Eric Clapton . It was released on November 24, 1986 on both Clapton's album August and as a single.

The recording was released under the Duck and Warner Bros. Records label and was produced by Phil Collins . In addition to Clapton (guitar, vocals) and Collins (drums), Nathan East (bass), Greg Phillinganes (keyboard), Michael Brecker (saxophone), Dave Bargerone (trombone), Jon Faddis and Randy Brecker (trumpet) are also involved.

Critic William Ruhlmann of the music website Allmusic found that Clapton sings and plays guitar on the track "passionately" ("fiercely"). The single was ranked 21st on Billboard's mainstream rock songs chart in 1987 .

A live interpretation appeared on the 1986 concert film Live 1986 .
