The Scottish Championship was held for the second time in 2014/15 as the second highest division of men's football in Scotland . The league followed the first-class Premiership and was above League One and Two , making it one of the four leagues in the Scottish Football League . The season was managed by the Scottish Football Association and began on August 9, 2014. The season ended with the 36th matchday on May 2, 2015. In the 2014/15 season, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 matchdays. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team.
As relegated from last year's Premiership , Hibernian Edinburgh and Heart of Midlothian came into the championship , which is the first time in 124 years that not a single club from the Scottish capital Edinburgh played in the first division. The Edinburgh Derby was also played for the first time since it was first played in the 1895/96 season in the 2nd division. As a promoted from League One , the Glasgow Rangers came into the championship .
Thus, the 2014/15 season was played out with an exceptionally prominent field of participants. In addition to the three big traditional clubs Hibernian, Hearts and the Rangers, three other former European Cup participants as well as the multiple cup winner FC Falkirk played in the league: the Raith Rovers , Queen of the South and FC Livingston .
Last year's relegated from the Premiership Heart of Midlothian was able to make the promotion again seven game days before the end of the season. The top scorer was Jason Cummings of Hibernian Edinburgh with 18 goals .
