Olympic games
- May 14th to October 28th : The Second Olympic Games will take place in Paris as part of the 1900 World Exhibition . For the first time women are also taking part in the games. Like croquet and pelota, cricket is the first and only time an Olympic sport has taken place .

- January 4th : 17 Viennese football clubs join forces to form the Austrian Football Union (ÖFU).
- January 28 : The German Football Association (DFB) is founded . The first president is Ferdinand Hueppe . At the same time, the challenge cup is dedicated to Victoria , which is awarded to the German champion from 1903 .
- March 18 : Grasshopper Club Zurich defeats FC Bern in the game for the Swiss championship 2-0.
