Olympic games
- May 14th to October 28th : The Second Olympic Games will take place in Paris as part of the 1900 World Exhibition . For the first time women are also taking part in the games. Like croquet and pelota, cricket is the first and only time an Olympic sport has taken place .

- January 4th : 17 Viennese football clubs join forces to form the Austrian Football Union (ÖFU).
- January 28 : The German Football Association (DFB) is founded . The first president is Ferdinand Hueppe . At the same time, the challenge cup is dedicated to Victoria , which is awarded to the German champion from 1903 .
- March 18 : Grasshopper Club Zurich defeats FC Bern in the game for the Swiss championship 2-0.
- November 7th : The Association of Prague German Football Associations is founded.
- Aston Villa becomes English champion for the fifth time.
- Genoa 1893 wins championship in Italy for the third time in a row.

- April 14th : The Union Cycliste Internationale is founded and will host the UCI Track World Championships 1900 in Paris' Prinzenparkstadion from August 12th to 18th .

- February 9 : The 20-year-old American Harvard student and tennis player Dwight Filley Davis donates the Davis Cup , which is later named after him .
- August 10 : The USA defeated Great Britain 3-0 in the International Lawn Tennis Challenge 1900 , today's Davis Cup.

- 10 / 11 February : The World Figure Skating Championships 1900 in Davos has only two participants. Gustav Hügel refers to Ulrich Salchow in second place for the third time after 1897 and 1899 .

- The Norwegian Olaf Tandberg reached 35.5 meters in ski jumping on Solbergbakken in Bærum, Norway.

- February 27 : Eleven members of MTV München 1879 leave the club and found FC Bayern München . The new club won their first game in March against 1. Munich FC 1896 5-2.
