Summer Darkness was the largest alternative music festival in the Netherlands at the time . It first took place in Utrecht in 2003 and was very popular on the Dutch scene, since 2006 it has been sold out every year.
background
The summer darkness was always the second weekend in August, simultaneously with the Mera Luna Festival instead, but was more like that in Leipzig held Wave Gothic Meeting , as various events held throughout the city. The event included various appearances by well-known bands in various clubs in Utrecht , plus the free concerts that took place in the Dom church and additional activities such as a market, guided tours through the city, and demonstrations by the LARP organizations. The festival was a collaboration between Cyberache, Tivoli (Utrecht), EKKO and Mojo. Under the motto Summer Darkness, smaller concerts and festivals were held throughout the year, such as the "Summer Darkness Winter Edition" in February 2007.
On April 3, 2015, the organizer announced that the Summer Darkness Festival would not take place again.
