Superman Inside is a rock song written by Eric Clapton , Doyle Bramhall II and Susannah Melvoin . It is the first single from Clapton's studio album Reptile that was released on March 13, 2001.
Doyle Bramhall II appeared at this time together with other musicians as the opening act for Clapton's concerts. Ever since Bramhall composed pieces for Riding with the King , he tried to write songs for Clapton. He wrote Superman Inside together with his then wife Susannah Melvoin.
The single ranked # 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart and was on the charts for a total of 11 weeks. Critic William Ruhlmann of the music website Allmusic notes that the piece sounds like one of his 80s Clapton rock hits.
The title appeared on another three compilation albums.
