history
The castle ruins of Allan ( Château d'Allan ) from the 12th century are located high above the old medieval village and formed the community until the 18th century. In 1337 large parts of the castle are sold to the Count of Provence. Two years later he built a new donjon . Towards the end of the 15th century, the population doubled and the curtain wall around the castle was enlarged. It was not until 1800 that the village settled in today's plain. The castle was given up in 1857 because it was difficult to get to and because the economy and residents settled in the plain. In 1878 parts of the castle were auctioned off to the new village and used there to build the church and the town hall. Since then, only one ruin has existed on the Schlossberg.
