The China Open 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place in Beijing from October 3rd to 9th, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships were played in Tokyo , which, like the China Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

The defending champions were Novak Đoković in singles and Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock in doubles .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.

qualification

The qualification took place on October 1st and 2nd, 2016. Four qualifying places in the individual competition and one place in the doubles competition were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
