Natalja Nikolajewna Antjuch ( Russian Наталья Николаевна Антюх , English transcription Natalya Antyukh ; born June 26, 1981 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian sprinter with the special 400-meter run and hurdler .
Athletic career
At the beginning of her international sporting career, she won the silver medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the European Championships in Munich in 2002 . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she won the bronze medal over 400 m behind Tonique Williams-Darling (BAH) and Ana Guevara (MEX) and silver with the Russian relay.
At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 she reached the semi-finals in the individual competition and won gold in the 4 x 400 meter relay with the Russian team. In 2007 she was national champion and sixth at the World Championships in Osaka . In 2009 she was fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Turin . In the 2009 outdoor season, she switched to the 400-meter hurdles . At the World Championships in Berlin , she was sixth. In 2010 she won over 400 meter hurdles at the European Championships in Barcelona and set a European Championship record with 52.92 s. At the Athletics Continental Cup in Split , she was fourth.
She won bronze at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu . In 2012 she set her personal best in the hurdles over 400 m at the Olympic Games in London and became Olympic champion; there was also the silver medal with the relay.
