Steinhagen is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community is administered by the Bützow-Land office , based in the city of Bützow .

geography

The municipality of Steinhagen borders immediately to the west on the city of Bützow. The municipality is located in the transition area from the Warnowtal to the wooded heights between Bützow and Neukloster , which is over 140 m above sea level. Reach NN . Steinhagen lies on the edge of the Rühner See , the area of which measures about one square kilometer .

Steinhagen is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bernitt in the northwest, Bützow in the east and Rühn in the south.

The Neuendorf district to the north belongs to Steinhagen.

history

Steinhagen was first mentioned in 1229 as the name Stenouen in a document. The Low German name indicates a cleared forest area ( hauen = houen = hagen ) and the stone-strewn soil obtained as a result.

Gut Steinhagen was a supply item for the city of Bützow. The three-sided courtyard partially burned down in 1933. The 538 hectare estate was owned by the wholesale merchant and oil importer Franz Ernst Schütte from Bremen in 1914 . The historicizing, renovated manor house was refugee emergency accommodation after 1945, then the seat of the community, kindergarten, village consumption and LPG office; today the municipal administration, a practice and apartments are housed here.

Neuendorf was incorporated on January 1, 2005.

politics

Since the local elections on May 25, 2014 , the Neuendorf volunteer fire brigade has held three seats in the eight-person community council, with the CDU and the individual applicants Klähn, Pfotenhauer, Dirk Voss and Henning Voss each occupying one seat .

Economy and Infrastructure

In addition to new farmhouses from the post-war period and homes, new businesses have emerged in Steinhagen in recent years. These include a. an electrical system company, a steel construction company, a gardening shop, a rest stop and a guesthouse. The park festival, organized by the local sports and cultural association, takes place annually in Steinhagen .

The community is located on the L14 connecting road from Bützow via Neukloster to Wismar . Approx. The A 20 passes 15 km to the north ( Kröpelin junction ). The closest train station is in nearby Bützow.
