history
The place was first named as Amfrevilla around 1240 . In 1369 the spelling Anfreville es camps appeared. It is believed that the Scandinavian first name Ásfridr can be considered an origin. A parish in Amfreville already existed within the deanery of Canville-les-Deux-Églises according to a document dated January 30, 1249, which comes from Eudes Rigaud , Archbishop of Rouen . The south wall of the nave of today's parish church Saint-Pierre was built in 1682, the addition of the sacristy dates back to 1867. Some parts of the church, such as the piscinium, date from the 13th century. A monumental cross in the cemetery dates from 1619, the mayor and school building ( Mairie-école ) was built in 1876.
Until the French Revolution the community was called Amfreville . In order to distinguish it (by post) from other communities of the same name , the community was renamed to Amfreville-les-Champs in 1801 - regardless of the fact that there was already a community called Amfreville-les-Champs in the neighboring Eure department .

Economy and Infrastructure

Ten farms are located in Amfreville-les-Champs (grain cultivation, dairy farming, cattle and rabbit breeding). Some jobs are offered by craft businesses (carpentry, drywall), and numerous residents commute to the surrounding larger cities.
