history
The World Cup was first held in 1979 in The Woodlands ( Texas , USA ) and initially only included individual competitions for men and women from the 3-meter board and 10-meter tower. In 1989 jumping from the 1-meter board was added to the program. From 1995 synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board and 10-meter tower took place. Since 2000, the World Cup has not been held in the odd, but in the even years. Since then, in the Olympic years it has served as a test competition at the venue for the Olympic Games, which will take place a few months later, and (in addition to the previous year's World Championships) as an important qualification competition for the Olympic starting places. The jumping from the 1-meter board did not take place in 2004 or in 2008 as part of the World Cup. In 2014, a mixed team competition was held at the World Cup for the first time, but this was not continued in 2016. In 2018, the mixed team competition took place again, as well as mixed synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board and the 10-meter platform.
