The equilibrium of the field of four participants was already reflected on the first match day. Only the hosts were able to leave the ice as winners with a narrow 1-0 win over the London Knights. Bratislava and Munich drew 2-2. On the second day of the tournament, the Zurich team was able to make clear the tournament victory with a clear 4: 1 over the Munich Barons. In addition, the 5-2 victory of London over Bratislava played into their cards. The final victory of the Knights over the Munich Barons didn't change that. Despite the defeat on the last day of the tournament against HC Slovan Bratislava, the host ZSC Lions became winners of the IIHF Continental Cup for the first time in their history due to the direct comparison with the London Knights. This was the third time in a row that a Swiss team won the cup. It was also the third title in a row for ZSC trainer Larry Huras , who had previously won twice with HC Ambrì-Piotta .

The top scorer of the tournament was Terry Marchant of the London Knights with three goals and three assists. In addition, the goalkeeping performance of Ari Sulander from Zurich stood out, who achieved a catch rate of 98.31 percent.
