The Ironman Triathlon World Series 2009 was a racing series of triathlon competitions over the Ironman distance, it is organized annually by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

An Ironman race covers the long-distance triathlon: 3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running

In the 23 individual races of the season as well as the races over half the Ironman distance ( Ironman 70.3 ), the triathletes were able to qualify for a starting place at Ironman Hawaii - the unofficial world championship - on October 10, 2009.
